Years From Now....

Yllac and me

...if threatened with insubordination, I have to make Yllac understand that I, too, had loathed my parents at his age. In case you didn't know and this has been going on since before Adam and Eve, since before the Dinosaurs and Big Bang Theory and before parenting blogs; whipping up fear and mutiny in one's offspring is a parental duty.

It is a parental duty.

Now, I do understand my Mom.

Grass Flowers

I know I always say this, but seeing these grass flowers as vibrant and fluffy as cotton makes me so happy. And as they dance and sway with the wind I felt some sense of serenity and peace. These grass flowers tells me something too, that the Christmas season is coming fast. Looks like I am not the only one enjoying this. As I look into Yllac deeply enthralled with the grass that's almost taller than him, I can't help but get curious what's on his mind. His eyes flutter with the sunset and the wind blowing his hair, his tiny mouth muttering baby words, I knew his mind was somewhere else. Probably dreaming of colorful carousels and giant mechanical dogs and his red toy car. Wherever his mind that afternoon from two days ago, I know he was happy. So was I.

Our family weekend fell on a Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday this week and it was oh-so-sweet. We took Yllac to this fountain which he loved so much. He's a fan. Those poor little hands must be sore from an hour of non stop clapping. And of course being a champion toddler that he is, he refused to leave the fountain. Sometimes I feel bad for breaking his heart... But anyway he's a baby, he will forget about it. But oh boy did I forget about my boys in a snap when i saw my kind of candy store. I spent almost an hour inside there just petting pretty necklaces, poking on rings and had an awesome time trying them on. It was the sweetest weekend of my life. It's even more sweet that I took two necklace home with me. I love weekends. Oh I love weekends and pretty little things.

Hope you had a pretty sweet weekend too.

Spoon and Fork People! Spoon & Fork...

...this is serious business...spoon and fork!

More than a week ago our little guy here started paying attention to proper use of utensils. So far, half of his food successfully made it to his mouth, a quarter of them fell to the floor, and some landed to our mouths and plates too. It's messy. Right now at his age it's mostly fun and a bit sad and scary too seeing him grow up a little more each day. I guess he's a toddler now. Tomorrow is his 21st month birthday and crazy as it sounds soon enough he'll be 21 years old. I guess it's okay to freak out. Like this biiiiiiig!!!!! So when you're freaking naturally you will load up on parenting books, especially toddler-phase books. I don't know, but still I feel that as a parent  you are essentially powerless. Well at least after your kids reach the age of 13 or something like that. You give your child the best chance you can in life, but ultimately they are going to do what they want, and hopefully (oh God please) hopefully you have not screwed them up too badly. c",)

This week was a whirlwind one for me. I cannot believe that it's Friday today. Okay It's Saturday morning now at 1:30 faaaaaareaking morning to be exact. Really, I checked my calendar twice just to make sure and thinking, how did that happen so fast that it's the weekend again. You too right? Sometimes, or, okay, honestly most of the time I felt as though my week was two days short. I would look back and Wednesday was a complete blank to me like it didn't happen. Like right now, I kept recalling what happened yesterday Friday. It felt like school again, like answering a Math essay question. I just stare into the wall and nothing comes to my mind. I guess when you're "busy" you live in a blur. I am not complaining. I just don't understand why I don't remember.

Anyway....

I do remember last weekend. It was awesome. I love our weekends. We always plan on not planning anything in particular and just go whenever we feel like it. On the morning of our Sunday we woke up early. Oh, God bless that early morning freshness of the mind that makes you crave for greasy yummy breakfast. And while in the middle of it Jayson said, "ang sarap tumunganga" while the three of us stares blankly out on the road. And he was absolutely right, and I am so glad I married a wisdom-us man. Maybe that's the reason I love our weekends. A lot of "pagtunganga" happens and it feels good to go all out blank for a second. Empty mind. Brain dead. Eyes glassy. Drooling. Laid back. Almost perfect. Oh I love weekends. So I envy all of you for enjoying your most awaited weekend today, while us here have to wait for a few more days.

Have fun everyone. Make sure to pause and tumunganga, because weekend isn't complete without it.

C' Italian Restaurant + Panizza + Baby Drama

C' Italian Restaurant in Clark Pampanga

Not too long ago, our friends who came to visit us just can't stop raving about this C' restaurant in Clark Pampanga which is famous for their panizza - a super thin and oh-so-soft-and-at-the-same-time-crisp strips of pizza you roll with arugula and that other leafy vegetable (sorry I forgot, but It was delish I can tell yah) So with an almost empty stomachs we went there on a Sunday afternoon really excited to try everything. Inside the restaurant, it was cozy, silent, a little too warm when you're carrying a toddler and dark.

Coooozy.

If you know what I mean. So unlike the uncoziness ala Jolibee. At this point at Yllac's age he can handle coziness so I am not entirely sure what made him burst out crying. I was thinking, was it the plates all over the wall or the dim lights, or the brick walls or the huge statue at the lobby of the restaurant, or the lack of a window, but he sure made known to ALL that he doesn't like the restaurant. By the way, they have high chairs too, so I guess it's a baby friendly restaurant. And as long as the babies are happy, other diners are happy too. Since we don't want them unhappy, the moment Yllac hit his highest note, we rushed him out at the back and just like that he was happy again. That top of the table was his happiest and safest place in all of the restaurant that Sunday afternoon. Jayson and I were such a team to take turns watching Yllac and pop rolls of panizza into our mouths. It was a great way to burn calories while eating. Great but not fun.

We really wanna go back for the panizza, but I guess we'll just take it out and eat them at Jollibee. Times like these, oh how much I wish Yllac was a little bigger

So any parents out there happens to read this? Do you have any tricks you can share with us on trying out new restaurants with your little ones without the baby drama? - No? Ah-What? You don't eat out until they're 18??????

Tough Girl

I love baby doll dresses but when you're 32 that's a little going too far on stretching out your fashion limit and it's not age appropriate and honestly it's a little girly, like a toddler girly considering you're a grown woman. Well, at least for me. So I guess putting on a denim or leather jacket toughens up the look a little bit. You agree?

Happy Tuesday ladies and girls and if you have time you can visit my Thriftaholic Shop for a recent batch of dresses, tops and skirts I put up for sale. Thank you.
