Thrift Confessions - Texier Leather Bag

Thrift Texier Leather Bag

If you're going to invest in a bag - make it A Have-It-Forever Leather Bag. But good leather bags are expensive and there is no way I can afford that now. But sometimes you just get lucky, if yah know what I mean?

Okay, here's a story.

Two months ago I saw this beautiful, creamy-soft bucket bag from the thrift store I frequent. It took my breath away like a punch in my stomach. The good kind of punch. That kind of pressure that makes you all giddy up and imagine yourself carrying that bag anywhere. For the first time this year I know I "needed" that bag. So i inspected it and it's perfect. No scratch anywhere, it is perfect. Twice perfect! Usually, thick leather bags are heavy but this one feels like a feather. The brand said "Texier" and I have no idea about that brand. The asking price was 700php.Wow! it was a little expensive when it's supposed to be a thrift right. Yah know what I mean ladies and gentlegays? So I made my peace to say goodbye to it for a while and maybe, just maybe, after a month if the bag is still hanging up there on it's pedestal, then maybe it's meant for me to take it home.

Fast forward to a month later, (and i know, you know, it's a good happy story right?) it is still hanging up there. (Im going for the kill) With 700 pesos in my hand i marched my thrifty bum inside the store heaving a sigh of relief that that beautiful bag is meant for me. The thrift lady said "300 ate, sale kami". Nothing registered inside my braid, I just stared at her. All the while I was whoohoo-ing inside. Playing along, I pushed my luck to 250php. (it's just a barter trick you need to master when you thrift- always ask for a lower price) She rolled her eyes and pretend to think. ( I know she's just pretending, it's a sales technique - HA HA!) And then she said yes. We both smiled and sealed the deal. Omigod! Omigod! Omigod! I finally have a Texier leather bucket bag. Yah feel me?

...seriously...

...the best thing about leather bags, is that they get better over time. The oils in our hand make it look better, but you wouldn't see that effect if the bag were black. A classic shape and practical size is important, but in the end, it's all about the color. I love camel and brown hues on bag. Black is a classic, but I prefer camel leather. Especially this one, the amazing looking beat-up brown leather from Texier. It sure is versatile too. You can easily wear it with everything, from pastels to neon. You can mix camel with just as many colors as you would with black.

So, tell me, have you had any luck with thrift leather bags recently?

ps,
here's another thrift camel bag I have

Fall in love. Conceived child. Get married...or not.

The choice is endless. Then again, it wasn't something you can pencil in on your monthly calendar and schedule everything right on time. I feel like am falling a bit behind on a particular family duty. Am a late bloomer, am lost with my thoughts all my life, my brain is still under developed, and am still waiting for my boobs to pop out. And there's the time of the month I tend to think of what my life has become. Just like today am looking at my blogs and thinking, Is this relevant? hmmm not so much obviously. But there's this force that pushes me to continuously do this, and the fact that It makes me happy, that alone is the relevance of this blog in my life.

Am sorry. Very hormonal today, and i miss my friends.

Okay moving on. Forgive me with this yellow shoes. I am learning to pack light, so for the last couple of days, all my outfits revolved around this yellow shoes. In fact am torn between black or yellow, but since it's me, i went for yellow. hihihihi. This is so comfortable, I don't feel like walking, am bouncing.

Have a great day everyone!

Blueprint

The best thing about having a blog is receiving emails almost everyday, from different set of people, ages and race. But I don't get that many though. 4 average and 10 max and half of them say that i WON a million dollars on a UK lotto. Barf! I suppose that's the whole point of having a blog, to connect to people. They ask you about almost anything and everything. Most of the time i get my inspiration from them. So am warning you, this post is a bit cheesy. So please bear with me. hihihi. Having said so, a few weeks ago i received an email from a girl, and she's about to get married in 4 months time. In short she's asking for my advice and tips for building a good marriage. Well she's 20 years young. Yeah that young. I was a little surprised cos i am no expert to give out such advice, having failed in so many relationships in the past. Well come to think of it. Thank God they all failed, or am having a husband now and four other boyfriends simultaneously right? There's goodness in failure after all. hihihi.

Anyway going back, am really flattered, cos husband and I were only married for 18 months now. So It's extremely short time compared to those who are married for years and years. But I answered as best as i could, based on our four years together.

Well, like any other couple, we did not agree on everything, of course. But we never really argued. And ,I thank God, I just got lucky. I don't ever remember once sitting down and mapping out a blueprint. It just became "we", instead of "I" very naturally and easily. And you live as you never have before, despite problems, separations, and conflicts. I suppose mainly you have to be willing to want to give.

It's not always 50-50. Sometimes one partner gives 80%. But then sometimes the other one does, so it all evens out after all. It's not always easy. I think it boils down to being willing to try to understand, to give of yourself, to be supportive. And above all else you must be sure that the person you're about to marry, is the only one you would want to spend the rest of your forever and ever and ever with. Wooooohoohooo. Did that scare you? hihihii.

And of course L O V E. Married or not, when two people really love each other, they help each other stay alive and grow beautifully together. I can't remember what my life was like before, and I can't imagine not being with Jayson.

So i wish you good, happy life ahead. And if all else fail, please don't sue me. hihihhi.

Have a wonderful day everyone and thank you all for reading.

Cool Breeze

  • So what an interesting dress huh? Soon as I saw it, I had to have it. It's cheap, It's a bit unusual so it must look special when worn. And am right. hihihi. I like the details of this soft fabric and the fact that it sways makes it so comfortable. The two pockets on each side makes this dress special, and weird at least for me. I hope you can see the baggy pocket details. It's like an extra hip. hihihi.
  • Am excited for the next coming months, cos I can feel the cold wind already. That means i can wear all my jackets i thrifted last summer. This one am wearing is one of them. Am glad i got this. At first am not sure about the print but it slowly grew on me. I think I can wear this with anything.
Well it's a sunless day today. Thank God it didn't rain. I love weather like this. Just perfect.

Have an amazing week everyone.

Thrift for Green

It's a gloomy day. Been raining for quite sometime now. Just a little bit un-normal since it's summer here,... supposed to be. hihi. Obviously the world has gone loony. But, anyhow it turned out to be a blessing cos it's soooo hot here now, but still we're hoping for a shiny day especially this coming Friday to Sunday. Please...pls..pls....

But enough about the weather, let's talk about the bag shall we? It's a THRIFT. My very first thrift item. For only 200php (4$) i got myself a huge leather bag! WOW! She's so pretty. Everything's intact. I just sprayed some disinfectant and polished it with pledge taraaaahhhh i got myself a brand new looking bag. I am so happy. You can tell by my big smile ei? Perhaps this is a good thing. Thrifting is good. I know, because am coming back for more.
