Am so sorry it's taking forever. But the heat here is just crazy. I don't want to go out. I don't want to put on clothes. It's like you're being steamed everywhere you go. It's sticky, it's ew. I wish for rain. I wish for snow, for ice. I wish for cold wind. Every summer it's getting hotter and hotter. The heat is just tiring. I now shower three times a day and sleep at night is impossible without the blast of air-conditioning till the sun rises...-hello electric bill.

The only good thing about summer is i get to eat all my favorite fruit at a cheap price - Watermelon, pineapple, avocado, and ripe sweet mangoes.

Am afraid the heat is getting into my brain and my thoughts aren't cohesive any longer that i want to cut my hair really really really short. This is bad. Very bad.

.....this too shall pass.

I hope on the other side of the world, you're all enjoying your summer.

The Tough Go Shopping

floral skirt

There are a few theories flailing around, none of them terribly scientific, nonetheless, everyone can agree: about the role of fashion in a dreary economy. Here's the first one, when things are bleak, women tend to wear more black, because it is more muted hue and appropriately "funereal". It is also easy - and in difficult situations, that matters. Or for me it is slimming. Am i right, or am i right? Then there's the opposite notion: dress in white; it will flatter you, light up your face and make you feel virtuous. And the crayola concept (my favorite) is as follows: women who dress in bright colors lift not only their own spirits but those of the people around them. But this one i find very dangerous at the same time.  It can turn heads for all the wrong reasons. Another theory is that fashion is the last thing that should be on the minds of thinking women. Yeah Riiiight!

And last but not the least, when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping. Well honestly and personally, when I look good, I feel good, I do good. When i feel a little down I'd like to buy myself something that will cheer me up. Of course I don't want to embrace this idea a hundred percent, but I do believe that feasting your eyes on pretty things when all around you seems so unattractive can be a short-term and effective healing, like say, listening to a good music, watching a feel-good-happy-ending-movie, reading a romance-they-live-happily-ever-after-book, or enjoying a good meal with your friends. The activity may not last for long, but it certainly does the job.

So what's your recent purchases miladies?

Am thinking of spring. Because spring promises new life, new beginning, hope, growth, beauty and adventure. Especially today, marks the budding of a new future for us.

Am happy. Much happier than those times I've said am happy. Is there a new word for that?
Spring is so pretty. Don't we all love spring?

....And thank you all so much for such a warm response to The Thriftaholic Shop, - another reason am so happy. Was so nervous setting up one but you made it all so easy and fun. Thank you thriftaholics!

Chocolate That Is Good For The Skin

chocomud

It's first time for me to try a mud pack. Simple because i hate to wait and not move a face muscle. But this Montagne Jeunesse Chocolate Mud Masque is so good and it really smells like a real chocolate. Well i miss those years that I can eat bars and bars of chocolate and not gain a single pound. Oh those were the days....

Anyway, It promises to moisturize your skin and it did. You can leave the chocolate mud for 15 minutes or for me, till it dried. And soon as it dried i stretched a big smile to make a face crack. Ouch! Boy did it hurt my face? The sound it created, so weird. Well it's my fault, there's nothing in the instruction that says smile big after the mud gets dried. So entirely my fault. But it's fuuuun.

The only bad thing I can say about this products is that it's not edible. hehehe. So don't try.

Have a great Monday everyone!

X is the new Black

Do you really know what it means when people say "____ is the new black"?

I don't.

So, Wikipedia to the rescue.

So here it is - The colloquialism "X is the new black", is a reference to the latest trend or fad that is considered a wardrobe basic for the duration of the trend, on the basis that black is always fashionable. The phrase has taken on a life of its own as a snowclone, and has been stretched and parodied as a rhetorical device and a cliche.

...and the last sentence is still a mystery to me.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

The heat is just unbearable.

Wearing this thrifted H&M polka dot dress saved me from being ....naked. Cos nothing's worst than seeing people dressing you with their eyes. c",) In this kind of heat you don't want anything touching your sweat glands. It is sooooo hot. Have I ever told you that I live in a country directly facing the sun and what's underneath is hell? And it's election month for crying out loud. So demons in human form lurking around asking for people's vote are everywhere. Be careful Philippines. Don't let the heat get into your senses, please don't vote for that candidate romanticizing poverty and garbage.

12 of 17 Dresses - Stop Crying Your Heart Out

Stop Crying Your Heart Out
Stop Crying Your Heart Out
Stop Crying Your Heart Out
Stop Crying Your Heart Out Stop Crying Your Heart Out

In my small hometown no grocery store sells fresh coffee beans. But I won't complain, It excites me even much, cos every time we run out of beans I get to dress up, drive 30-45 minutes, pass two toll gates, and get to sing Oasis' Stop Crying Your Heart Out on the way to the "nearest" grocery that offers different imported products. So am not saddened by the last scoop of our coffee, It's always a field day.

But for the meantime let's all cry our tonsils out loud... God bless everyone!

Hold up, Hold on, Don't be scared
You'll never change what's been done
May your smile, Shine on, Don't be scared
Your destiny may keep you warm

Cos all of the stars have faded away
Just try not to worry, You'll see them someday
Just take what you need, And be on your way
And stop crying your heart out

Reflection

reflect

They say, If you want to study yourself, look into the hearts of other people and see how they perceive you, which am very much avoiding cos it's scary to know what other people think of me. It's kind of surreal how people look at you, evaluate you, read you and sum up your whole character that's baffling even to believe those little things you say will be remembered and be part of your record. I love the dynamics of emails i receive everyday. Some of them are crazy. Really crazy. But i chose to side on those that really inspires me. Don't get me wrong, i love the balance of love and hate emails, they will definitely keep you real.

A couple of days ago I received an email from Melai. She's a young girl both in age and in blogging. But her posts were never short of wit and the thoughts she puts in every entry is definitely a brain candy. And i was just surprised when she made a post about me. Am beyond happy. The little girl in me cried. For whatever reason I just cried. It's really nice when some people see the good in you when you don't see any good in what you do. She's ( and others who kindly emails me) the kind of force that picks me up when am sliding and I start to question the relevance of my whole blog.

Here's the article. Thank you Melaibeybeh. Follow her blog. She's soooo good.

Before And After

before
after

scanned from Look New York Magazine Spring 2009.

The Magic of Hair and Make up. Amazing what a few hours and hot rollers can do. When the models arrived backstage at Gucci - all straggly hair and naked faces - they looked, well, their age.

Oh models, they're just like us. The only difference is that they're skinny, have an amazing cheekbones, tall, they wear beautiful clothes, paid to look pretty and they have most fabulous job in the world.....But who the heck am i kidding? Okay, I take that back. We're worlds apart. Am gonna cry now.

Peg and Square

Peg and square - a round peg in a square hole. Some things are not made to fit perfectly. Hypothetically speaking in my own time Ill chisel my rough edges in order to fit smoothly into something I-can't-fathom-right-now. But in life I've learned that many things, even in great intention, in your best attitude - things are not meant to happen, even how hard you worked for it. You willingly sacrifice a head and a limb just to fit, but still not work. Then you grow a third boob but still not good enough. So yeah, be yourself. Flat or inflated, be yourself. Cliche right? But that's the only things that really works.
